Real Keto isn’t easy!
Keto-er, Has this ever happened to you?
Your friend or coworker approaches you and asks about keto. Of course you’re thrilled to talk about your lifestyle, so you begin describing what you eat. And their smile quickly fades away. They ask, “Well, what about heavy whipping cream? Cheese? Magic ketone pills and drinks??!” They’re stunned that a person ACTUALLY has to work at being in nutritional ketosis!
How do you answer them since they’re basically brainwashed by all the misleading “keto” forums and groups out there? Do you crush their dreams and flat out tell them that those things are not keto, but a fad instead. Or do you just claim ignorance to keep the peace?
Well folks, if you’ve been reading ANY blog of mine, you know I’m all about honesty. And to be fair, what works for me may or may not work for you. Lol we can have an opinion on things that are subjective, however, objective (scientific) data shows evidence that REAL keto doesn’t involve foods like heavy whipping cream, soft cheese, block cheese, conventional meats and fats. And I shouldn’t even have to post it, but keto does NOT involve alcohol and sugar-free ANYTHING (sodas, gum, desserts, etc.).
Yes, our friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances all see how healthy we keto-ers become in just a few weeks, but like most things worth having, it’s hard work! And I’m sorry to say, that many people nowadays just don’t want to do the heavy lifting. They’ll pop a pill or drink a magic drink that claims they’ll lose 10 lbs in a week. What they’re getting is what they give; cheap, temporary results and maybe even more medical problems. They’re NOT getting is sustainable healthy results like a real keto-er will get from long term, hard work.
Being keto is a daily chore that we each face every morning when we wake up (albeit, bacon and coffee isn’t so bad) and is something we consciously must remember throughout the day. Every single day. But whatever the cost, personally keto has given me the ability to live normally and not have chronic, severe migraines. Once a month (on average now) I’ll suffer through a severe attack, which may last a few hours or a few days. But it beats 3-4 horrifying attacks per week like before. With countless hours lost at work and home. No weekly trips to the ER because my meds haven’t worked and I’m in so much pain that I can barely move. And I can’t stop throwing up.
Real keto is not easy but for me it’s more than worth the work.
Today, I’m not just surviving. I’m living.
